Modern life is denser than it used to be. More people share space, work closer together, and spend longer periods concentrating — both at home and at work.

At home, that can mean hearing footsteps through floors, conversations through walls, or background noise that never quite disappears. In the workplace, it’s prolonged screen time, overlapping conversations, and constant low-level distractions that make focus harder than it should be.

For a long time, unwanted noise was simply something people had to tolerate. Today, we know it affects comfort, wellbeing, and productivity – and we also know there are better ways to deal with it.
