A ceiling baffle is a fin of felt hung on edge below the ceiling. Hung in a row, felt baffles give a flat ceiling depth, rhythm and colour. Joined at the corners, they form an interconnected grid that reads as one sculptural piece. Every baffle here is cut from PET felt made with 75% recycled plastic, made to order in the UK, and ships with its hanging wires.

What is the difference between a baffle and a raft?

A baffle hangs vertically, so you see its narrow edge from below and its faces from across the room. A raft hangs flat, so you see its broad face from below. Baffles suit long rooms and high ceilings where you want lines and depth. Rafts suit a single zone over a desk or table. Our guide to acoustic ceiling types walks through both.

Vertical fins or an interconnected grid?

Single fins (Wave Form, Rake, Vertical Oblong, Drift, Boardwalk) hang in parallel rows and can be spaced to suit the room. Interconnected grids (Grille, Lattice, Matrix, Mesh, Honeycomb, Waffle) slot together at the joints and hang as one unit, so one kit covers a defined area. Choose fins for a run along a corridor or above a bank of desks, and a grid for a statement over a reception or meeting table.

How are felt baffles hung?

Every product ships with ceiling wires. Fins hang from wires fixed along the top edge. Grids hang from wires at the cross-lap joints. Drop is set by wire length, so the same baffle can sit tight to a low ceiling or hang well below a high one. For a straight, adjustable run, add a 12mm baffle channel or U channel extrusion. Do felt baffles help with sound?

Yes, as a secondary benefit. Felt is soft and porous, and a baffle hung on edge exposes both faces to the room, so a run of baffles softens sound in offices, cafes and reception areas with hard floors and high ceilings. Baffles are chosen first as a ceiling feature. If cutting sound between rooms is the aim, that is what our Shell system is for.

What thicknesses and colours are available?

Every product page states its board thickness. 12mm boards come in 48 colours and 24mm in 20. Wave Form and Rake come in both and are sold in pairs. Every board is fire rated Class B-s1,d0 to BS EN 13501-1.
