Acoustic Wall Panel – Shiplap – PET Felt
Shiplap is the look of timber boarding engraved into PET felt: paired grooves set at even intervals, like the joints between boards. It gives a wall the feel of cladding without the weight.
The board joints are set so the spacing runs on across the panel joints. A full wall reads as one continuous run of boards.
Hang the panels landscape for horizontal boards or portrait for upright ones. Once the first board is up, hang every board on that wall the same way so the pattern carries across the joints.
Size and thicknesses
- 2400 x 1200mm, sold as one panel
- 12mm in 48 colours, or 24mm in 20 colours
The engraving is cut 4mm deep on both thicknesses, and every panel is square edge. Made in the UK from PET felt with 75% post-consumer recycled content. Fire rated Class B-s1,d0 and backed by a 10-year guarantee.
How to hang these panels
There are three ways to fix them.
- Button-fix Type 3 panel fixings give a clean finish. A hidden push-fit clip, no visible screws, and the panel pulls off whenever you need to get behind it. Use six per 2400 x 1200mm panel. The reusable marker tool is sold separately. See our Button-fix planning guide.
- Adhesive gives a permanent finish. Use a solvent-free, low-VOC adhesive suited to PET felt and your wall.
- Pin head nails are the quickest fix, though the heads may show.
Panels are a uniform thickness, so any unevenness in the wall shows at the edges. On an uneven wall, fit vertical levelling battens first. They give a flat surface and a fixing point for every method.
We confirm your wall type and the fixing method with you before your order is made.
Class D, αw 0.30
Tested to ISO 354 with the board fixed flat on a rigid backing, rated to ISO 11654. NRC 0.40 is our calculation from the lab's results.
Tested performance
| Mounting | Like | αw | Class | NRC |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Flat on a rigid backing (ISO 354) | A panel fixed to a wall | 0.30 (MH) | D | 0.40 |
12mm board, 2.4kg/m², tested to ISO 354 and rated to ISO 11654; NRC 0.40 calculated by us from the lab's results. Figures are per square metre of board, so they work for any size; for a panel hung or standing free they are a conservative guide, because its back face and edges absorb sound too. See how to read acoustic panel ratings.
Acoustic performance in your space varies with how the product is mounted, the room, and how much material is used. For the full breakdown see the science page, or contact us.
Class A, αw 0.90
NRC 0.90, tested to ASTM C423-23 with a 200mm or 400mm air gap. Class A is our calculation from the lab's results using the ISO 11654 method. Flat with no air gap: NRC 0.65, and αw 0.50 (MH), Class D, calculated from the EN ISO 354 results.
Tested performance
| Mounting | Like | NRC | SAA |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flat, no air gap (Type A) | A panel fixed to a wall | 0.65 | 0.64 |
| 200mm air gap (E200) | Panels on battens, a suspended tile | 0.90 | 0.87 |
| 400mm air gap (E400) | A raft hung below a ceiling | 0.90 | 0.87 |
24mm board, 4.87kg/m², tested to ASTM C423-23; the flat result also to EN ISO 354. Figures are per square metre of board, so they work for any size; for a panel hung or standing free they are a conservative guide, because its back face and edges absorb sound too. See how to read acoustic panel ratings.
